Western Power Focuses on Fire Safety
The risk of a single electrical spark igniting a bush fire or damaging property has led Western Power to seek out a fire unit solution that was easy to use and provided access to any location.
Heavy duty steel-framed fire fighting trailers provide easy access to every environment
With its steel-framed chassis and tandem axle option, Coerco’s fire-fighting trailer units offered a perfect fit for the electricity servicing giant. More than two million Western Australians are connected to electricity through Western Powers charter of building, maintaining and operating the state's electricity network.
Western Power Geraldton Field Operations Team Leader, John Simpson said a further priority was the ability to connect the fire-fighting unit to existing company vehicles while incorporating a 1000ltr tank, a small pump, a spare wheel and a hose-reel system.
"Western Power crews love the new units for their ease and efficiency. Before, our crews had to take the fire-fighting units on and off the trailers depending on the season. Now, we have a purpose-built unit we can hook on the back and away we go," Mr Simpson said.
The design incorporates a tandem axle that has been designed to maximize stability and weight distribution for easy access to differing terrains like sand and gravel, and easy maneuverability in urban areas.
With more than 25 years of experience in tank manufacture and steel fabrication, Coerco's design and engineering team had already developed a range of fire-fighting units to satisfy the needs of many mining and agricultural applications. Tried and tested fire response trailers a perfect fit for Western Power
After discovering how easy the units were to use and set up, Western Power quickly followed up the initial order with Coerco's stand-up trailer option. Furthermore, the stand-up trailers enabled Western Power to still utilize space on their vehicles for other tools and equipment.

Assembly of the trailer units begins with fabrication of the steel chassis and axle, and manufacturing of the water tanks at the Coerco warehouse facilities in Dalwallinu. Landcruiser rim tyres are then fitted to the structure along with the water tank, pump and hose reel.
A quick turnaround for customised requirements
Along with the convenience of purchasing the entire unit from one place is also the option of customizing the unit to suit specific requirements by utilising Coerco's in-house design and engineering team. This also includes the option of changing the orientation of the tank to fit onto a narrower version of the chassis.
Western Power secured a total of 19 fire trailer units that were dispatched to depots in Mandurah, Geraldton, Jandakot, Vasse, Moora, Southern Cross and Bridgetown among others.
