Introduction
To support operations at Australia’s largest new iron ore mine in over 50 years, Coerco delivered a fleet of portable, skid-mounted water and wastewater storage tanks, engineered to meet BHP’s strict safety, mobility, and performance requirements across the Pilbara region.
The Challenge
As BHP’s mine pits evolved, tanks had to be easily moved between sites while maintaining full operability and structural integrity.
Tanks and supporting structures had to meet cyclone region 'D' windage ratings, comply with AS1657 safety standards, and withstand extreme Pilbara site conditions.
Each tank type potable, fire, and wastewater needed specific flow rates, fittings, and features to support staff safety and site functionality, with colour coding for rapid identification.
The Solution
Each tank was mounted on a galvanized skid base with bolted access ladders and platforms, designed for easy relocation across shifting mine operations.
Tanks were engineered with tie-down systems, windage modelling, and fabricated steel structures meeting AS1657 and cyclone region 'D' standards.
Coerco supplied potable tanks (10,500L), fire tanks (9,000L), and wastewater tanks—all fitted with BHP-specific pump flanges and colour-coded for operational clarity at PC1 and PC2.
