Simplifying Refuelling in Peak Season

How Stuart Counsel’s Diesel Setup Cuts Downtime and Risk

Wubin-based farmer Stuart Counsel has flipped the script on traditional on-farm refuelling.

Instead of double-handling diesel from bulk storage at the shed into a trailer or ute, Stuart mounted two 7,000L Coerco Diesel Transport Units directly to a semi-trailer — creating a mobile, paddock-based refuelling hub.

By parking the setup right where his machines are working and having his fuel supplier deliver straight to it, he’s removed the need for multiple handling steps and eliminated the use of trailed transport units during peak operations.

The result? Less downtime, less risk, and a smarter, safer way to work.

Refuelling Shouldn’t Slow You Down

Traditional Diesel Storage Was Holding Things Up

Like many broadacre growers, Stuart used to rely on a bulk diesel tank at the shed. From there, diesel had to be transferred to a ute or trailed tank, then carted out to machines in the paddock — a common system, but one that introduced time delays, inefficiencies, and operational risk. In busy periods like spraying or seeding, those extra steps added up fast. Add to that the challenge of towing diesel trailers in wet paddocks, often with seasonal workers behind the wheel, and the risk was growing too. Stuart needed a better way — something simpler, safer, and built for scale.

Reduced Double Handling

Diesel is delivered directly to the trailer-mounted tanks in the paddock, eliminating the need to transfer fuel from storage to trailers, and then from trailers to machinery.

Faster Refuelling

With two tanks connected to a single fill point and retractable hose reel, any worker can refuel machines quickly and safely, without moving trailers or vehicles.

Improved Safety in Wet Conditions

No trailers need to be towed around the paddock or on-road, reducing the risk of bogging or incidents with inexperienced operators in tricky conditions.

Better for the Team. Better for the Program.

Efficiency and Safety, Working Together

Fuel Delivered to the Paddock

Uptime When It Matters

Fuel deliveries now go straight to the mounted diesel units in the paddock, removing the need for mid-shift trailer runs or returns to the shed. This has reduced downtime and helped Stuart maintain momentum during critical windows.

No More Diesel Trailers in Wet Conditions

Less Risk, More Control

With no need to tow trailed fuel tanks across the paddock, especially in wet or tricky conditions, Stuart’s setup has reduced safety risks — especially for seasonal workers or less experienced drivers.

A Setup Designed for the Whole Team

Anyone Can Use It

With electric-start diesel pumps, e-stop safety, and retractable hose reels, Stuart’s system is intuitive and easy to use — even for casual or new staff. It means fewer mistakes, faster refuelling, and more confidence across the board.
