How Stuart Counsel’s Diesel Setup Cuts Downtime and Risk

Wubin-based farmer Stuart Counsel has flipped the script on traditional on-farm refuelling.

Instead of double-handling diesel from bulk storage at the shed into a trailer or ute, Stuart mounted two 7,000L Coerco Diesel Transport Units directly to a semi-trailer — creating a mobile, paddock-based refuelling hub.

By parking the setup right where his machines are working and having his fuel supplier deliver straight to it, he’s removed the need for multiple handling steps and eliminated the use of trailed transport units during peak operations.

Like many broadacre growers, Stuart used to rely on a bulk diesel tank at the shed. From there, diesel had to be transferred to a ute or trailed tank, then carted out to machines in the paddock — a common system, but one that introduced time delays, inefficiencies, and operational risk. In busy periods like spraying or seeding, those extra steps added up fast. Add to that the challenge of towing diesel trailers in wet paddocks, often with seasonal workers behind the wheel, and the risk was growing too. Stuart needed a better way — something simpler, safer, and built for scale.
