Introduction
BMA, a leading Japan–Australia joint venture and global exporter of steelmaking coal, operates major mining assets across Queensland. At Saraji Mine, the team required a dependable access solution to support safe operations and reduce risks in a demanding environment.

THE CHALLENGE

Reaching the pontoons by boat exposed workers to potential immersion events, creating safety concerns that needed to be completely eliminated.
Boat access required additional safety personnel, increasing deployment complexity and operational effort for routine site activities.
The approval process for boat-based travel added significant delays, affecting response times and overall operational efficiency.fa
THE SOLUTION

The project delivered a custom floating walkway and tethering solution, improving stability, safety, and usability for routine access to the pontoons.
Multiple site visits and ongoing technical engagement ensured the system was correctly installed, optimised, and supported throughout deployment.
More than 130 stanchions were supplied and installed, with rapid troubleshooting and additional parts provided to maintain project momentum.
